I have one last question that deals with our somewhat
dysfuntional family business and it is probably the most
important due to the timing issue which is critical in our
seasonal business.
We have a high monthly overhead that is in place to support
bread and butter maintenance jobs that need 2 men working
40 hours each to break even,
the owner has not even started to line up repeat work for
the season that starts in 2 weeks instead chasing larger
projects that offer no guarantee of profitability and high
cost of sales which must be covered on top of fixed overhead.
I have suggested that we mail and email our customers and
line up this “”sure thing “” work before it is too late.
Since we never take each other’s advice even if we know
it is the right thing to do–is there anyone that agrees with
ny logic??

Definitely! It’s always a good idea to keep in touch with your customers and make sure they stay in the loop. Mass mailing is very common. Emailing would be cheaper. My company mass sends coupons once a month. I can’t even imagine what they must spend on postage.
