I’m getting annoying emails from someone. I know that I can block the emails in the mail options, but that just makes the email disappear, without letting the sender know he was blocked. I want him to know that I am not reading his emails.
The person you have blocked, will NOT know that they have been blocked. Far as they know–you’re still getting their annoying mail.
Yahoo doesn’t notify them—that would just defeat the whole purpose.
If a person knows they’ve been blocked—all they have to do is keep sending from a different address—exactly like the spammers do.
That makes the blocking process you set up useless.
I wanted to do the same thing but what LoneStar said makes sense. I’m considering just closing my email account and starting a new one. Then I’m assuming they will get the message “undeliverable” since the email address won’t exist any longer. Then you can send out an email to all the contacts that you want to keep, giving them your new address. Just a thought.

I do believe that they would be notified ? (by mailer-daemon) that their e-mail mail was undeliverable.
